Strategy and policy development
PSP has worked with Government Departments and other organisations to look at their objectives, organisational structures and delivery mechanisms, to identify better ways of working. Our early work focused on science policy but more recently we have worked in other areas of public policy.
To do this we use a mixture of research techniques including analysis of management data, and a range of interview and survey techniques to capture the views of senior managers, other staff and external stakeholders. This provides us with a rounded view of the organisation, the issues it faces, and an evidence base from which to make wide reaching recommendations that address organisational structures, ways of working, training needs and the impact of the prevailing corporate culture.
If you would like to talk about how we can help your organisation, please contact Suzanne King.
Much of our work on strategy and policy development is confidential to the clients but examples of our research work in this area includes:
- An Assessment of the Chemistry-Biology Interface in the UK
- Low level radioactive waste consultation
- Factors Affecting Science Communication: A survey of scientists and engineers
- Maximising Returns – women returning to careers in science
- Science & Engineering Ambassadors Programme
- Science in Society – strategic planning
- Evaluation of the National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics (NCETM)
- Evaluation of the National Network of Science Learning Centres (Final Report)
- The UK BioBank - A Question of Trust
- Consultation on the Supply of Genetic Tests Direct to the Public
- Public Attitudes to Stem Cell Research – establishing the UK stem cell bank
